At approximately 6.30pm on Monday 15th April Notre-Dame de Paris, the principal cathedral in Paris caught fire. It was thought to have arisen due to an electrical fault in a lift installed to undertake repair works. The whole of the roof was burned and it was feared that the entire cathedral would be destroyed.
