Help for Heroes Bike Ride25.jpg

Arrival at the Battle of Britain memorial at Capel-le Ferne, between Dover and Folkeston on the fifth and penultimate day of the charity Help for Heroes Big Battlefield bike Ride from Paris to London, following an early crossing from Calais. A wreath laying ceremony took place at the Battle of Britain memorial in memory of the 3000 men of Fighter Command who represented 'The Few'. At the close of the ceremony, to the surprise of the participants in the Help for Heroes bike ride, a spitfire flew low over the heads of the cyclists and circled the memorial. Later in the day the bike ride continued to Chatham Naval Memorial where a second wreath laying ceremony took place. Saturday 1st June 2013.
