Christian Lacroix was born in Arles, in southern France, in 1951 and opened his couture house in 1987. In 1989 he also ventured into fashion accessories and opened boutiques across France and abroad. His Haute Couture never made a profit and in 2009 the fashion house, owned by Falic Fashion Group, was put into administration.
