Cyclists participating in the Help for Heroes Hero Ride, totalling to 1,500 including the 300 who took part in the six day Big Battlefields Bike Ride from Paris to London, assembled in formation representing the H4H colours, in Horse Guards Avenue, London preparatory to riding the last miles of the Help for Heroes charity bike ride concluding in the Mall, in front of Buckingham Palace, and ending at Horseguards Parade. The bike ride raised over £1 million for the war wounded and other donations, prompted in part by the killing of drummer Lee Rigby, amounted to a further £1 million. Participants in the combined Hero Ride of 1,500 cyclists included Help for Heroes (H4H) joint founders Bryn and Emma Parry, Tour de France hero Mark Cavendish, Paralympic athlete and former soldier Jon-Allan Butterworth, singer and ex Army officer James Blunt, burns victim from 4 Para Jamie Hull, Page 3 girl Lacey Banghard and 150 wounded veterans.
